Like Switzerland, Christian Coigny’s black and white images of nudes and swimmers have a vibrant healthiness to them.
Coigny lives on the shores of Lake Geneva which perhaps explains the aesthetic of his work. There’ a touch of the Peter Lindbergh about these images too, with a dash of Leni Riefenstahl thrown in for good measure.
The human body is celebrated without trickery of embellishment; in fact the word that keeps coming into my mind is natural. Whether it’s in the poses of the models of depiction of their bodies.
This is a classical world were death is banished and the life force remains undimmed by time.
