Abandoned America

Roadhouse abandoned movie set in El Mirage, California. June 2011

From derelict motels in Amboy, California to rusting Chevy’s in Bowie, Texas, photographer Noel Kerns has captured the forgotten Americana that litters the landscape.

He shoots these ruins at night using a technique called light painting, which combines long exposures of moonlight with spots of artificial color.

The results are haunting and atmospheric and give everyone yet another reason to take a road trip.
