French fashion photographer Guy Bourdin had one of the most unique visions in fashion photography, taking pictures that told a story as much as they sold some clothes. A protege of Man Ray his images reflect a true artistic vision and also a cruel streak reflected in his treatment of some of his models. In the age of ‘me too’ he wouldn’t have lasted long but he does leave behind a hugely influential body of work that remains truly beautiful. His book, ‘Femininities,’ is a must have for budding fashionistas.
